Hi, friends. Welcome to The Connected Reader. My name is Denise and I’m so glad you are here.

Before I jump into what we do here, I want to share a little bit about me.

I was the kid who brought a book everywhere, reading in the car and in the corner of the room at family gatherings, in the swingset clubhouse and in the tree in the front yard. I lost track of reading in adolescence and young adulthood, but found it again just shy of my 30th birthday. Reading for fun again has been the reminder of myself I’ve needed as I’ve navigated being a present partner, becoming a mother, raising young children, and working outside the home full-time.

And, finding the time to keep reading is a struggle. How are you supposed to read when you are taking care of so many people at home and at work? When the to-do list is never ending? When the siren song of scrolling and streaming is so loud? If this struggle resonates with you, you are in the right place.

The Connected Reader community is here to help you figure out why you want to read, what you want to read, and how and when that reading can happen. Together, we are working on carving out a reading life so we can more fully connect with ourselves, with our kids, and with our communities.

So let’s do it, y’all. If you are interested in receiving new posts when they are published, I’d love for you to sign up for our mailing list. And you can always email me directly at theconnectedreader@gmail.com.

Hearts, friends. Here’s to finding our just right reading place.
